You shouldn't change your diet. Keep eating the way you normally do — this will allow us to get an accurate picture of your "normal" microbiome and provide recommendations on how to improve or maintain it.
We recommend that you collect your sample when you don't have any gastrointestinal symptoms. If you've been taking short term medication, such as antibiotics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID's), we recommend waiting 3 months before taking the test. Likewise, if you have recently undergone surgery, you should wait 3 months.
If gastrointestinal symptoms and medication are part of your everyday life then you should take the test without waiting. This means your sample will be based on your most typical microbiome.
If your symptoms and medication are only temporary and you take our Microbiome test, the results provided, as well as the food recommendations, may no longer be valid; this is because your microbiome can change during courses of medication and bouts of illness.
